About A Bad Sore Throat, Please Help.??

Question: Okay... I've got a pretty bad sore throat now, it stared Friday evening after I got off of work, it didn't hurt that bad till late Friday night up into Saturday morning, I had a small fever at first but has now almost went away, I'm couging up clear mucus, that's what seems to be making my throat raw/sore, I keep couging it up and I beleive either me coughing it up or leaving it sit on the back of my throat may be causing it to stay sore, there are a few, 2 or 3 little white/yellow dots/ maybe puss pockets on my throat, they just came up today, Sometimes my throat isn't so bad and sometimes it is, I've been taking lots of Vitiman C and Garlic for it, eating soups, taking IB or Advil, Drinking Koolaide and drinking green tea with lemon and honey, my my throat seems to me a little swollen on the outside and is some sore, I had a ear ache but has now almost went away... Could this be some kind of Allergies? Where I live it's been going hot to cool, maybe something that I breathed? hlp plz
Answers: It could be strep. But if it has been going on this long and your not better in the am I would see a doctor and be put on Antibiotics before it gets worse and spreads. Continue with lots of fluids and even throat lozenges to help. The ear ache can be from the swollen lymph nodes you are feeling. Allergies can cause sore throats at times but it shouldn't be a painful as you say it is. But get it looked at in any case so you can get it under control and start feeling better.
gargle with warm salt water to soothe some of the ache and warm lemon water will help....
if this continues, doctor would be best....
I am very 'Chinese style' when it comes to sore throat.

I guggle with salt water - put a lot of salt into a glass of water and guggle - do not drink as it is too salty. I do this 2-3 times a day if the its really sore. Salt soothes inflamation and reduce the sore.
Based on the symptoms you are stating, I would assume you have some type of infection, maybe strep. Especially since you have a fever.. I would see a doctor and have a culture done to rule out strep throat, It should not go left untreated.,
Most sore throats are soon over. In the meantime, the following remedies may help:

- Drink warm liquids. Honey or lemon tea is a time-tested remedy.
- Gargle several times a day with warm salt water. (1/2 tsp of salt in 1 cup water.)
- Cold liquids or popsicles help some sore throats.
- Sucking on hard candies or throat lozenges can be very soothing, because it increases saliva production. This is often as effective as more expensive remedies.
- Use a cool-mist vaporizer or humidifier to moisten and sooth a dry and painful throat.
- Try over-the-counter pain medications, such as acetaminophen.
