Why do people say they are allergic to things just because they don't like it??
Question: Or because they are on some fancy diet?
Answers: Probably so they won't hurt someone's feelings. Giving a good excuse sounds better than just saying no, or maybe they think it will make the refusal more acceptable and easier.
it's just a figure of speech. cuz normally when you are allergic to something it can kill you. so they just point out that they really really hate something.
just maybe they know there body better then you
It's a more oplite way of saying yuck I can't eat that!
It's a good excuse and no one will argue with an allergy.
1. They are making a joke.
2. They are ashamed to admit that they don't like what it is that they claim to be allergic too.
3. They don't know the meaning of the word allergic.
4. They want someone to stop trying to force them to try something they dont like.

I hate that too. People also say that if they don't want a lotion or type of shampoo. Oh, I can't use your lotion, I am allergic to it. Yeah right, allergic, sure.
You can´t just tell people that what someone just cooked and the rest is about to eat, sucks. It´s impolite. An allergy makes a great excuse.
I think that is NOT exactly correct. . There are many things that they do or donot like but they cannot have it. There are or may be reactions beyond their control. hence they cannot have it.
Though it is generally referred to food items and medicines , it is also referred to things that create not-so-pleasant feelings mentally too. Like me. I am too allergic to many Yahoo questions that are too much centered on sex and violence
if you mean allergic to something it means that there some aggravating factors that affects the health of a person.

keep your opinions to yourself. you really should be more concerned with
