Can lathering VapoRub on your feet and then putting on socks really supress coughing and allergies??

Question: So my mom is teacher and I was recently stricken by a cold. She told me a school nurse told her to put Vicks VapoRub on the sick person's foot and put on socks, and the next morning things would be fine. Has anyone heard this before? If so, does it work?
Answers: Sorry it is just an old wives, or in this case old nurses tale. It will have no therapeutic effect.
I dont think it will help your cough or your allergies... but it will make your feet smell minty fresh!
I have never heard of it. I think when you buy over the medication, that you should just follow the label and uses.
no
Not on your feet but.. the directions say it is suppose to go on your chest (only a very small amount) so that when you lie on your back and breathe at night you will inhale the vapors and it will unclog your passages.

Careful because too much on your chest can cause pneumonia.
Never heard of it. When I was a kid, my gramma would put Vicks on my throat then wrap a clean wool sock around my neck when I went to sleep. I think you got the story mixed up?
.I do it for myself and my daughter and it does help.A lot. You can also read about this on snopes.com under Urban Legends. Hope you are feeling better!
NO

And you will ruin the shoes.
