Answers: Use Dreft. It is widely used for babies and was recommended by our pediatrition. Babies tend to have sensitive skin and Dreft was recommended to use for washing babies clothes. My son had excema and his body was clear when using Dreft. Just make sure you moisturize his body every day after bath time. We were also prescribed Hydrocortisone 2.5% ointmnet. This help a lot. We found the ointmnet was better than the cream.
I have it on my fingers only and every little chemical makes it break out. I know if you are willing to risk the weight gain you can get a steriod shot from your dr every three months and it literally goes away withing 2 days. I thought my fingers couldn't peel anymore and i was gonna be down to bone, but it cleared up. Also there is this medicine called Elidel that you put on at first sign of rash and then it goes away, this way you won't have to worry about what kind of soap you use!!!!! Hope this helps!

I would strongly recommend against using Dreft, because it's full of fragrances which will irritate your eczema. What has worked at our house is to use a dye free and fragrance free detergent (we use All Free), followed with vinegar in the rinse water to remove any residual irritants. I've also read that you can add baking soda to your rinse water (but not with the vinegar - use it in place of vinegar) to help remove any remaining dyes or fragrances that may be in your clothes from before. Baking soda can also help soften your clothes, reducing the need for fabric softener.
I've also heard that Method brand laundry detergent (especially the baby one) (you can get this at Target) works well for this. Finally, look into getting a prescription for Elidel. It's worked great to minimize the eczema outbreaks my daughter gets - usually any outbreak of eczema we've put it on is cleared up overnight.
Good luck!
I recommend Get Clean laundry and household products. They are all-natural products which are toxic free.
They are available on-line and if you are interested in the website feel free to contact me.
We use Dreft for the laundry. Gentle bath soaps are good too. When my son was first diagnosed we used liquid Dove. The most successful thing we have found is soap with lavendar for the body and shampoo with tea tree oil for the head.
I use a Swiffer WetJet to clean the floors.
Dreft has all kinds of horrible chemicals in it that will irritate your skin. Why anyone would use it for their baby is beyond me?! I use Seventh Generation Free & Clear. Seventh Generation detergent is all natural and biodegradable. The Free & Clear variety has no added fragrances (natural or not)...I used this for my cloth diapers as well...baby's bottom is very sensitive. Any of the Detergents that are free and clear that are all natural (usually found in health food stores) should be mild enough for your sensitive skin.
If you are interested in getting rid of your eczema, it' quite simple. Skin disorders like eczema and psoriasis are caused by an overgrowth of yeast, fungus and bacteria in the body, called candida. Around 70% of Americans have candida, most don't even know it. It can be corrected by changing your diet. Initially it is a very extreme and difficult change, but once the systemic yeast infection is gone more varieties of foods can be incorporated back into your diet. It would be a permanent lifestyle change to keep it away. If you have eczema, you are probably experiencing other symptoms as well. For example:
-fatigue
-joint/muscle pain
-tightness in shoulders/neck
-acid reflux, unrefreshing sleep
-white coated tongue
-dark circles under the eyes
-chronic dental problems
-depression
-anxiety/panic attacks
-recurring obsessive thoughts
-mood swings
-paranoia/phobias
-irritable bowel
-painful gas
-dryness of mouth and/or eyes
-menstrual problems including PMS and endometriosis
-recurrent yeast infections
-recurrent ear infections (especially in children)
-rashes
-acne
-dandruff
-jock itch
-yeasty diaper rash
-chronic athlete's foot
-chronic toenail fungus
-allergies, food and other
-restless leg syndrome
-low sex drive
These are all symptoms (just some, I didn't list them all) of candida. My family beat it in under two years. It does take a while to correct. It's a matter of correcting a lifetime of damage. There is the very strict candida diet that can eliminate it in a matter of months, but I was not willing to give up so many foods. So we chose to eliminate just some foods, and have slower progress. Email me if you would like to hear more. Good luck.
i use arm and hammer , it seems to work for me . but there may be other factors to this , such as diet . i have been battling it for years , just when i think ive got it figured out it starts over again
