Best treatment for chronic allergic conjunctivitis????
Question: Did any one get treated successfully??And what was prescribed for u??? Or any body with knowledge in that field?? ((( If M.D. OR OPTHALMOLOGIST BETTER)))
Answers: Hmm... I'm not sure about chronic conjunctivitis, but as a contact lens wearer, I have had it a couple of times now, and I can tell you, it's no fun at all!
When I got it, it was either because I had touched my eyes after not washing my hands well or because I fell asleep wearing my contact lens still on my eyes, and woke up and they were all puffy and puss y and developed into conjunctivitis. Yuck!
I went to my GP first, and he prescribed me these eyedrops, sorry, I can't remember what they were called. But I wasn't allowed to touch my eyes or wear contacts again until they were completely healed. Also, I had to throw away the contacts I had been wearing at the time. It usually took three or four days for them to calm down and heal. After the last time I got conjunctivitis, my doctor sent me to a specialist eye doctor to check my eyes and make sure there wasn't something really wrong with them. I think that specialist was an opthalmologist, if that is the right word?? He said they were fine, but it was better I checked and the cause was either one of two I mentioned before. So I just had to be more careful with my eyes and treat them well.
So I would say to you, if you can go see your GP first and then maybe see the specialist, although they do cost a lot, and insurance may or may not cover you for a specialist, depending... But it is better to find out the exact reason why you get it, so you can avoid that and hopefully keep them healthy.
