Serious Advice Needed, I'm pretty sure I'm allergic (not lactose intolerant but ALLERGIC) to milk...??
Question: For about a week now I've had hives, horrible abdominal pain and well you know... I didn't think the two were related untill Sat when friends brought chocolate brownies. I took one bite and before I could even start chewing I got the hivey feeling and sure enough my friends gasps at the site of the little red dots appearing on my face. Then Sunday cheese topped spagetti did the same thing happened. So we sat down and talked about what we had eaten and sure enough everytime I got the hives or had a bathroom episode we had been drinking milk or eating a milk product.
Conclusion, I'm allergic to milk and it's getting worse. I am trying to avoid it but even little trace amounts in things are making me react with more severity.
Before you tell me to go to the dr I am, today! But my question is what to do for the dr. appointment. I have been taking benadryl, should I stop? Should I trigger the reaction before the ap't so he can see what I'm talking about? Advice?
Answers: Just tell him your taking benadryl, they know how to trigger it. If you really want to show him take some milk with you. BUT be warned. I know a girl with allergies and every time she subjects herself to it, the symptoms are worse each time.
whatever you do don't trigger it before going or at all unless the dr tells you to or it will get worse...
I would bring something to the doc so he can see the reaction.
Good luck to you.
This sounds serious take an allegry test it is such that persons can be allergic to milk..... just like being allegric to wheat , peanuts and pencillin..... Check with your doctor today.... dont delay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A friend of my husband thought he was allergic to milk, it just so happens he's allergic to the antibiotics in milk.
Keep taking the medication, it may be the only thing keeping the problem to a minimum...the doctor will probablty advise you to do the same.
Actually, I have had the same problem for about 5 yrs now and it sounds like you are deffinately lactose intollerant but it could also be a gallbladder malfunction, either way just avoid the dairy products!!!!
It sounds like you are allergic, or intolerant, to casein, the protein in milk and dairy products. This creates an IgA and IgG immune response in the body, and for you you get hives. It doesn't matter if you eat a ton or trace amounts your body will still react. DO NOT trigger a reaction for your appt. Talk to your doctor about getting an allergy test done and avoid everything that has casein in it.
