Answers: AVOID those ionic (static) purifiers....don't get pulled in by their marketing. Although they are effective on odors, they are not very effective on solid materials. Ionic purifiers also produce ozone, which will combine with non-toxic substances to form toxic substances...this will make things worse for people with lung conditions or young infants.
HEPA filters are still the best.
Anything with a throwaway HEPA Filter. This type of filter catches 99.9% of all bad stuff coming through your air handler. You can also get a HEPA for your air handler. They are a little more expensive. But, if you have allergies this is the best way to go.
