Allergy Help! I am itching so bad, I can't sleep!??

Question: I went to et take out with my daughter last evening when on the drive home my hands began to itch. I wrote it off as mosquito bites. But as the evening progressed at home, the itching became way more intense and widespread-including my scalp, arms, legs, back, feet, knees-everywhere! By midnight, not only was I itching to death, but now I have these nasty hives to boot. I've tried changing clothes, taking a cool shower and dousing myself in Witch Hazel and Calamine lotion-nothing's helping! In fact, the hives are getting worse! I have painstakingly went over my diet today, but I can't think of anything I ate or products I've used that are different than the norm. I have taken into account that the itching didn't start until I got in the car, and my boyfriend is a technician. He says he wasn't exposed to any new chemicals today, but I doubt that given the circumstances. I do admit, I had a poppyseed bagel this morning, haven't had that in a while....What does this sound like 2 u? HELP!
Answers: You may never know what caused your hives. Hopefully they'll go away quickly and never come back. For now if you can go get some over the counter antihistamine. Not sure of the spelling of brand name, Clartin / Claratin? The store brand works just as well, just make sure that it's loratadine. They have it specificly for hives , but the just allergy symptom ones are the same thing and cost less.
Benyadril {spelling?} will help with hives too, but has the disadvantage of making you tired, if that is a concern. In my experience {boat load of allergies } the loratadine works faster, and better.
Hope this is some help, and that the itching stopped before you got the chance to read this.

c.l. who
sounds like you need to see a doctor. you may need anti-biotics, i wouldn't wait around if i were you, could be serious.

oh!! almost forgot, lotrimin works well for rashes. my husband has exema (sp) and the creme helps much even though thats not what its for... its actually for athlete's foot and vaginal yest infection. heh. :) gl!
Okay! Sounds like you are in a lot of pain! I feel so sorry for you! anyway, try some medicines like Benedryl, they not only take down rashes caused by allergains, but it also makes you drowsy, so it can help you sleep.
Do you have any pets? It could be fleas
usually benedrile or any anti-histamine will help
It may be due to any infection or you may have developed any skin allergy. Go and consult a doctor.
Sounds like a bad allergic reaction to something- poppy seeds maybe-or something in CAR_ and you can develop a new allergy to something you have eaten or used for years- try benadryl or the generic diphenyhydramine-same thing- of you have trouble breathing go to ER ASAP_did he use a new cleaner or scent on car?? take care-D
Have you change laundry soap? Or have you started to use a new cleaner for the car or deodorant, or air freshener?
it sounds that your allergic to some kind of food. Try natural aloe Vera jell.also see a doctor
benedryl will help with the hives....and remember with allergic reactions...its not the first time that you are exposed to something...Its the second. What did you have to eat for dinnner...it was probably something in the take out.
take benadryl
It sounds like your allergic to something. by the way benadrill does work alittle. you still be allergoc to something that you have always eaten. i was never allergic to hair dye but i am now. if it get worse I would go to the doctors
Benadryl (and this is the correct spelling) is a fast acting and highly recommended antihistamine. I normally keep it in the house, just in case. If you find that the Loratadine works well, that's great too -- keep it around the house. That way, you don't get caught with a reaction to something and no way to treat it.

Be sure to keep taking antihistamine for the next few days, because you've had a widespread reaction through your whole body. In my experience, it can take as much as a week or more for such serious allergic reactions to work their way out of your system. I once had a bad reaction to a chemical at work (and I still don't know what it was) and had to stay on Benadryl for 10 days. Every time I forgot to take the next scheduled dose, the hives I got initially would begin to re-occur and sometimes in new places on my body! They would clear up again when I took the antihistamine.

Very nasty.

I hope that you are feeling much better by the time you get this answer!
