I cant wear jewellry , i get a bad rash, was wondering is there any watches that i could try, ? without a rash?

Answers: YES my son has the same problem. It is an allegory to nickle. Costume jewelry contains nickle!!! He had it so bad he couldn't wear a belt because of the buckle and his belly would break out in a rash. He also couldn't wear a watch of a ring.

Good news you can wear good gold, pure sterling silver...

Also go to nonickel.com

They have some jewelry and a coating that you can paint on the back of watches and buttons to keep the nickle off of your skin. They also sell some nickle free watches.

You can use hydrocortison on the rash and it will clear up in a week.

You have to be careful because it isn't only the face of the watch, even cloth or plastic bands have metal hooks and fasteners that are made of nickle. I got my son a divers watch and still he got a rash right at the buckle and it was mostly plastic.

Hope this helps
swatch and casio
you are more than likely allergic to the different metals. I had a friend in high school that could not wear anything less than 24k gold because the lower ones contained the alloys that she was allergic to. Try 14-24K gold only.
get the jewelry or watch backed with felt.....it works.......
leather straps or velcro straps
Try gold coated but keen on changing it once it wears off the coating
You should be OK with gold. But make sure the back is gold too, as sometimes it is stainless steel , which can cause problems if you are sensitive.
I have the same problem. The only thing I ever did was to ware a watch that was a little to big, so the air could get under it.
Hi I had the same problem, but my last 2 watches were made by Fossil and both have been great. No irritation at all. Good quality and start from around £40 upwards.
Use plastic or pure gold
Try a watch thats made of titanium, thats hypoallergenic and shouldn't give you any problems.
My Mum had this problem and she got round it by painting the back of the watch with clear nail varnish. It is easily removed and reapplied when necessary.

Another way is to put a piece of Band Aid on the back.
i have that problem to,i wear a lorus sports kinetic watch that comes with a cloth type strap, never had a problem, and you dont need to buy a battery ever again.
think my rotary watch is ok for me, I bought it on a ferry on the way to france once was about £50, was very resonable for a quality watch like this.
One of my friends had this problem in school and so took to wearing a watch with a plastic strap. What were they called.... Baby Gee or something... anyway, they were faddy, but you can find similar things. the watch market has expanded so much you can get the wildest funkiest watches - a plastic watch need not look childish or pathetic. You can get beaded watches with plastic backs so as to prevent any metal from contacting your wrist. These are obviously the hypoallergenic alternative. I'm sure these are available in most catalogues, e.g, Argos, or try small shops/funky clothes stores.
I verify Scott O's comment as my Mum seems to have this problem (or very espensive tastes in jewelry!)

You didn'y specify Gold or Silver, sterling silver is not solid, try white gold. 18 Carat should be pure enough, though you could try 24 and work downwards.
Have you tried wearing a plastic cased watch with a plastic strap?
i think youll find your like me i cant wear anythink but silver or gold pure metals that dont corrode you could try stainless steel but check it first stainles isnt magnetic
I am also allergic to most metals against my skin. In the military, I had to get plastic covers for my dog tags.
A few months ago, I checked out hypoallergenic watches on my computer and purchased a Fossil watch. I have not had a bit of skin trouble. I noticed another reply that stated the individual has Fossil watches and no problems.
Also, another individual suggested felt backing. I'd try the Fossil watch first. Good luck and good health!
Painting clear nail varnish on the back helps me - just remember to top it up now and then as it wears off eventually.
It could be similar to a sweat rash my friend got it all the time no matter what type of watch she wore but she didn't get it off bracelets so she got a fancy little watch face and put it on a bracelet but if it happens to you with everything have you try ed titanium and its not that expensive or 24car gold but that is a bit expensive. hope this is of use to you
apart from gold you could try a plastic type Bakelite watch and bangle type strap they start at about £20 you can get loads of different designs I have plain black and an amber one they look very attractive.and I have not Had a problem with them
try a pocket watch
sounds like a nickel allergy... sometimes you can use clear nail polish on the metal that makes contact with your skin.
try surgical steel or jewelry labled hypo -allergenic
Sounds like you have a nickel allergy. The only other type of watch you could buy is a real gold or silver one.
If it is just the back part of the watch that is irritating you, then a good remedy is to paint it with clear nail varnish to put a barrier between your skin and the metal.
You could be allergic to nickel, this is common, try a rubber watch they are good for skin problems.
You may have a nickel allergy, if so a good tip is to paint the back of your watch face and bracelet with clear nail varnish, it provides a barrier between the metal and your skin, good luck.
Sounds like a nickel allergy, try Storm watches, i had same problem,a friend bought me a Storm watch to try, they're guaranteed to be nickel free. I don't wear any other make of watch now.
