Hello, I am wondering which foods, if any, contain antihistamine??
Question: I am allergic to ragweed pollen.
Answers: The foods we consume do not contain antihistamine. FYI, Antihistamines are prescriptions you can take to interrupt your body's production of histamines in response to allergens in the environment. However, diet can still play an important role in controlling allergic reactions.
A healthy, balanced diet that follows the recommendations of the Food Guide Pyramid is the first key to defending your body against allergic reactions. A healthy body is more resistant to attack, whereas stress, poor diet, insufficient sleep, emotional trauma, and infection can predispose your body to allergic reactions. More specifically, vitamin C and vitamin E can help protect your body. Vitamin C will boost your immune system and is found in citrus foods such as oranges, grapefruit, orange juice, grapefruit juice, green peppers and many beverages. Vitamin C acts similar to an antihistamine. Vitamin E is found in plant oils and green, leafy vegetables. With allergies in mind, the best diet to follow is one with plenty of carbohydrates and fresh fruits and vegetables.
Hopefully the next frost will bring you relief from your allergies!
then i would avoid all types of pollen
No food contains that in it. Sorry to say that. nil imran's comment was excellent. I also suffer from severe allergies and I may copy down a few of the things he listed. Anything is worth a try when it is natural and all that.
nil imran doesnt understand allergies at all. nothing you eat nor vitamin C and E wont help with allergies. basically, your body immune system overreacts to ragweed pollen and tries to get rid of it and thats why you have an allergy, not because you arent eating your veggies. claritin is a decent over the counter antihistamine and most people notice very few or no side effects, you can get its generic (loratidine) for really cheap, usually about $3-5 for 30 days worth. it'd help with runny nose, itchy eyes, sneezing and sore throat if its caused by drainage. talk to a pharmicist if you have questions or other problems on top of what i mentioned (like congestion) and he/she will recommend a good product for you
Though this site was answers, not debate. With regard to nil-imram vs mnvikes8484, and without being a doctor, I would think what you eat has a lot to do with your body chemistry, including allegies. Nevertheless the info provided by mnvikes is also valuable. Take both advises. Nothing wrong with eating healthy and a cheap antihistamine to help now and then.
