I have hives from an allergy to cashews.Steroids and antihistimins now for 6 days. What's the antidote? Help?
Question: The rashes still come and go in waves. Maybe there is an herb or something to counter-act this.
Answers: No antidote will counteract an allergy and herbs won't help it. You need to avoid whatever you were allergic to...don't eat it, don't touch it, don't go near it in any form. Use the steroids and antihistamines to get rid of the hives. If you're not better in another day or two, I'd start thinking about the day you had the allergy attack and what you ate. Is there something else you ate that may have caused it? Are you still being exposed to whatever that food is? The other thing is you can call your doctor in another day or two and see if he/she has suggestions or knows why you're not getting rid of the hives for good.
If the steroids and antihistamines are not working go back to your doctor for further advice. Its not wise to muck around with allergies, they can be dangerous.
go to the hospital. And i wouldn't eat nuts ever again
Go to the dr. Maybe you can get a cortisone shot.
You need to get to the doc - and document everything you've eaten as best you can since the hives started and until you get in. It's possible that you reacted to the cashews but now you're reacting to peanut butter or something else.
If you've had a reaction, it takes a long time to get your histamine levels back down. Be sure to take the anti-histamine around the clock until the hives are gone, and then for 2 days afterwards. If you've seen no relief, I'd go back to the doc and get retested.
First off, any herbs for allergies have to my knowledge only been studied in the realm of little white mice in laboratories.
As to the allergy itself, well that's a complex issue you can email me about if you want.
But to put a simple answer on a complex question, I'd have to say: allergy shots at your internist.
Here's a link for your benefit, and it's the best TRUE cure I can suggest, using all my nursing and pharmacy school brainpower.lol. Email me if you need info.
