I have i.b.s any suggestions on making me better??
Question: i have ibs which is a bowel problem, can any one help in making my life easier
Answers: carry a commode seriously go 2 doctors 4 colofac
I find taking a probiotic drink (like Actimel) helps my IBS a lot. I told my brother to try it and he found it helped him too.
depends
Exercise more, eat more fiber, reduce your stress.
i recommend yoga
Adding wheat germ to my food (just sprinkle it over it and it has no taste) and taking Metamucil daily helped me A LOT! Good luck and take care of you!
I have Crohn's and have been helped by taking Azulfadine tablets.
don't eat any dairy or beef
lot's of vegetable
no seeds (sunflower seeds, poppy seeds, etc.)
drink lots of water daily
I have IBS as well and I know how bad it can be believe me. I have finally gotten it under control by taking metamucil 2 times a day morning and night. I also drink 64 oz of water to make things move along better. I use to have flare ups like everyday but now maybe it will happen once a month. The metamucil should be sugar free and it really works.
Check out the information on soluable fiber versus insoluable fiber on this website: http://www.helpforibs.com/diet/
basicly, you want to eat things from the soluable fibers list most often. The insoluable fiber list, unless you eat them in tandem with other items, can cause ibs to become worse.
Talk to your doctor about Zelnorm. It's a medication specifically for I.B.S. & it's syptoms. In the source below is the website address & the site has a lot of information for you & your doctor.
Consult your doctor about completely changing your diet. There is very little you can eat that won't disturb your system. Be on the lookout for Chron's disease. Drink a ton of water.
ye im in the process of being diagnosed at the moment!!! its just one big nightmare for me!!! unfortunately i was told its so hard to diagnose because everyones symptoms are different, keep your spirits up though you are not alone!!!! Take care.
I would say to avoid all white based flours: white bread, white rice. in fact, anything white. Instead eat loads of green veg and wholemeal products. I hope it gets sorted.
Oh yes, aviod drinking cows milk. you should drink soya milk or goats milk only. and avoid fizzy drinks lioke the plague....
Personally I think the term IBS, is a get out term used by the medical profession when they don't know or can't be bothered to investigate. It's as useful as saying sore arm!!! I would recommend finding out what the source of the problem is. Whether it means persuading your GP to do further tests, or working it out for yourself. It could be caused by a number of things, try eliminating food allergies/intolerance, as it's often overlooked & can cause major problems - I was taking medication for 11 years for a stomach disorder I didn't have... I just had to stop eating tomatoes. There's a very good book called The False Fat Diet which is all about food intolerance - highly recommended.
Please see the webpages for more details on Irritable Bowel Syndrome.
Stop eating dairy and wheat products. I know its a pain but its the only way to control it
Go to the pharmacy and get something!
My GP says peppermint is the answer. He saw a video where peppermint was sprayed on to the inflamed area in the intestine of a woman with ibs , and one could see it shrink immediately. He prescribed Mintec capsules for me and they were marvellous. They are coated so that they do not dissolve in the stomach but in the bowel where they are needed. Non-coated ones do not work as well as these.. Mine were on prescription but maybe you can get them over the counter. I hope you soon feel better.

Take a food intolerance test.
Most doctors will denigrate the idea that we can be intolerant to 'food' but unfortunately we are.
I had this problem and despite finally ending up in A&E at 3 in the morning with violent stomach cramps and vomiting nothing was diagnosed and I was sent away with a prescription for strong pain killers and anti emetics.
I took a food intolerance test and found I shouldn't eat dairy produce (cows milk, cheese, butter etc), take too much animal fat or drink coffee
I modified my diet and after a couple of weeks ALL my symptoms vanished.
That was several years ago and apart from the odd bout, usually when I've eaten out or had a take-away, I've now got things under control.
Make sure it's definately IBS and not your gallbladder. I was experiencing symptoms similar to IBS but my doctor suspected gallbladder and referred me to a surgeon. All of my gallbladder tests and colonoscopy were normal with the exception of pain experienced during my hydascan. Surgeon said if this didn't take care of my bowel problems then I probably had IBS. I had my gallbladder removed in June and the pathology showed pre-stone signs with irritation. Bowel habits are back to normal again.
Colpermin tablets should help. They are just peppermint oil in a capsule and should help with bloating and pain.
Hope you feel better soon.
