How can I get rid of the hiccups??


Answers: Numerous home remedies for hiccups exist. The reason that these remedies are thought to work is that carbon dioxide build-up in the blood will stop hiccups, which is what happens when you hold your breath. If the vagus nerve that runs from the brain to the stomach is stimulated, hiccups can also be alleviated (this is what is happening when you drink water or pull on your tongue).

Try these methods at home:

* Hold your breath.

* Drink a glass of water quickly.

* Become frightened.

* Use smelling salts.

* Pull hard on your tongue.

* Place one-half teaspoon of dry sugar on the back of your tongue. (You can repeat this process 3 times at 2-minute intervals. Use corn syrup, not sugar, in young children.)
Put a red sticker on your head and drink some pickle juice.Then dont talk for a minute and they will go away.
Give them to your friend.
If you can just ask someone else to ask you if they can hear you hiccup you usually won't be able to do it for them. It works for me always and when someone else has the hiccups I will always bug them to let me hear for about 30 seconds and they will be gone. A hiccup is a lung fluctuation. You just need to stady and even out your breaths to stop it.
i only know of four ways a spoon full of sugar, have someone hold you temples and you drink a glass of water, holding your breath, and drinking salt water!

The ONLY thing that works for me is a spoonful of peanut butter.
What works for me 100% of time is when I drink 3 gulps of water holding my breadth each time.
ether hold your breath or don't talk for like 5 minutes and then i'f there still there then l don't no what to tell you you can makeout but i don't think that will do the trick how old are you anyway?
The best thing that I've discovered to help someone else get rid of their hiccups is this:

I stand behind the person and place the palm of my hand squarely in their back. I ask them to slowly lean back onto my hand (they should be bending at the ankles, not the knees). I lower them until they are at about a 45 degree angle and ask them to breathe normally, don't talk or laugh. After about 10 - 15 seconds, the hiccups usually disappear.

The only thing is that you need to be strong enough to hold the person with the hiccups with just your one arm, but it almost always works!
