How do you 'just say no' and kick the smoking habit - without the patches or gum??
Answers: Get Cancer!!!!( Got it because of his smoking habit) That's how my Dad kicked the habit!! And my Mom kicked the habit because everytime she would light up I would throw up!
Just stop!!! It is just mind over matter!!!
Quitting cold turkey is one of the hardest things for people to do. The only real way to do it (besides gum/patch) is to totally isolate yourself from your problem (go somewhere where you can't buy cigarettes or find anyone that has access to them.)
STAY BUSY!! and when you find yourself unoccupied grab a good book and keep reading until the craving goes away. Take a mild sedative such as one benadryl to calm your nerves and keep busy.. i quit but i used the patch along with all the reading.. i smoked for over 10 years and i was completely clean and no cravings after 3 months.. you have tto want it.... if you have any questions or need more advice from someone thats been there you can email me at cmtswoman@yahoo.com

start cutting down...decrease the amount you smoke everyday..worked for me. I stopped doing the things that I smoked the most while doing, or cut down my time doing them. Also try keeping your smokes far away from you. I kept mine on my nightstand upstairs...out of sight out of mind. When you start, and you get a craving, tell yourself you can have a cigarette in half an hour...if you find you don't need one then, wait till your next craving, and tell yourself in another half hour. Keep yourself preoccupied, and don't check the clock every minute!! lol
its too hard to quit
When I quit smoking I was up to a pack and a half a day. I was in the military at the time and had just gone to a new unit...while doing pt I couldn't do half the crap everyone else I did...I was too busy huffing and puffing. I threw away the last of my pack that day.... I was a royal b*tch for a few days...but it only took a week for the worst of the cravings to go away. I just made sure to stay busy and stay away from people who were smoking. Good Luck!
