Tobacco causes emphysema, pneumonia and CANCER. my mother smoked 50 years. She died of lung cancer in April. Started out with hacking cough, then a pain in her side that wouldn't go away. then her body ached. Harder and harder to breath. Put on oxygen. Had 2 biopsies done. Oncologist told her she had 6-8 months to live. Chemo would only prolong life about 2 months but would not destroy the cancer. It had already spread to her bones by the time she was diagnosed. She died 14 days after she was diagnosed (not the 6-8 months we expected) Her lungs just gave out. MRI showed lungs to be totally covered with cancer cells. spread to her pelvic bones, legs, bottom of spine.
