Is tempurpedic bed worth the cost? or how about other foam bed brands??

Answers: It is a comfortable mattress, for lying in one place. It is not particularly easy to sleep on for someone who moves a lot during the night. The profit margin on the mattress and accessories is enormous. No it is not worth the cost. Most major mattress manufacturers now make a memory foam mattress just as good for about half the cost.
I have another brand and it does collapse under the weight of my butt--which, by the way, is not prodigious at all. I paid $1200 for it. I have to flip it and rotate it all the time. I'm not sure the foam is all it is cracked up to be, but I bet the brand name is better stuff.
I don't know. Tempurpedic sounds comfy though. They say its comfy, I say it's comfy. So your question was just ansered.

I tried the tempurpedic when I was mattress shopping, and it's very comfortable, but very expensive. It's definitely unlike any other bed but I don't know if that's a liability. I would'n buy the cheapo alternative Walmart memory foam. I ended up buying a regular mattress called King Koil Spine Support collection. It was great, at a good price, and it's not tempur-pedic, but it's firm and comfortable.
In November last year I switched from a top of the line Sterns & Foster to a Sleep Number Bed by Select Comfort. It is great. I was very skeptical at first but I love it. The model I bought has a pillowtop made of 4 inch thick memory foam (very dense) on top of the dual air chambers. The damn thing really works. It is expensive, but do yourself a favor and try one out in a Select Comfort store.
