What is causing these headaches??

Question: For the past few days, I have been getting throbbing headaches. I am pretty sure they are not sinus headaches or due to allergies. They are also not migraines. I thought the cause of them was because I often wear hats or my hair in tight ponytails. But today, my hair is down and I have another headache. Could the cause be that at my job I sit in front of a computer all day and that is straining my eyes? Or could there be another cause I am not aware of?
Answers: if your normally ingest caffeine and have been abstaining, that could be the source of your headaches. excedrin adds caffeine to their tablet to help with this type of headache.
you could have a headache from that, but it could also be from not eating or drinking enough, sleeping in too long, or drinking too much caffeine.
Probably a combination of everything you listed. Wear your hair down for a couple of days. Wear glasses instead of contacts if you do. Make sure to drink plenty of water, you may be slightly dehydrated as well. AND it could still be allergy related.
How are you sure that you don't have migraines? I have been suffering from migraines for years, i get what is called cluster migraines . My migraines last for days at a time with sensitivty to light, sound, t.v. and computers definetly makes mine worse. Maybe you should check with a physician. And not to scare you at all but sometimes things like tumors can cause severe headaches.
You could have TMJ. TMJ causes headaches and jaw pain. Look into it.
do you get enough sleep, that could be the cause, ask your doctor.
Eye strain can defitely cause headaches. Another issue with sitting in front of a computer is most people (me included) have a tendency to slouch and crane our necks forward. This poor posture can cause subluxations in the spine which can cause a migraine. A subluxation is a vertebrae that's misaligned.

I would check out the eye strain issue first. Give your eyes mre time to rest throughout the day. Do some different eye exercises, like shifting your vision from something close to something far away and back again. If rest and eye exercises don't help, you might want to check out the subluxation route. I've been seeing a chiropracter for almost a year now for migraines and various tension headaches. I also sit in front of a computer for work. I went from daily headaches to almost none. It might be worth checking out.
Sounds like a combination of all the answers posted.
Keep your hair down for a few days and it could also be caused from stress. I get alot of headaches from stress so if possible, get rid of the stress that causing your headaches.
I think you answered your own question but it could be allot of different possibilities like stress, lack of nutritious food or even hormones. There is a Chinese method for curing headaches which I used to do. You take a ice cub and set it between your thumb and the pointer for a 100 seconds and switch to the other hand.
if your job is infront of a computer, then it is most likely that. But if u aren't totally convinced, then I would get a brain scan. (Cat scan.) might be a good idea anyways.
It very well could be from poor body mechanics while in front of that computer. Make sure your keyboard, monitor and chair are set properly to avoid strain and head forward posture. But remember that no matter how good your posture is, being in a prolonged position isn't good for those muscles either. They can get fatigued and cause symptoms similar to strain, which in your case can be referred pain (headache.) So remember to get up, move around, and stretch during the day.
A hot pack on your neck and/or a massage should help and if so, will let you know that body mechanics are indeed a problem.
You've obviously done a good job at considering and monitoring the possibilities :) Since you've ruled out allergies, sinuses and hairstyles, that leaves several other options one of course being the one you mentioned: eye strain. Try to take frequent breaks to rest your eyes while at work and if this is the source or a major part of your ailment, you will notice a reduction in the frequency of your headaches. Keep in mind that other common causes of headaches may be dehydration, irregular meal times, sleep depravation, anxiety or stress, so it may be to your benefit to monitor these variants as well. I hope you feel better soon :)
