Any suggestions on how to lose 10 pounds solely from the stomach region? (And keep it off)??


Question: A quick fix would be great but I am open to any suggestions
Answers: It is not possible to control where the weight loss will occur. If it was, then right-handed people would have less fat on their right arm as it is used twice as much. However, if you have a lot of fat around your waiste, then that's where you'll lose it.

You have to make sure you use more energy in a day than you take in by food (hence exercise and low calorie food). Fat, like a battery, stores any left over energy that you don't use. If you use more energy than you eat, it forces your body to withdraw energy from fat, causing you to lose weight.

You can safely lose 2 pounds per week, but if your desperate, you could do some extreme weight loss upto 4 pounds per week.

If you lose weight quickly, then once you have lost the weight you should go on a maintainence diet and exercise program where you keep the same weight for at least 2 months. If you do not do this your body will automatically return to its old weight.

Add muscle tone. Muscles chew energy even when you are doing everyday tasks.

Be careful not to put the weight on again in the future. Our bodies have a built-in anti weight loss mechanism. This is to help us survive in a poverty situation. Basically, if you lose weight, your body will try for about 2 months to revert to the old weight.

This is not true of weight gain. Your body will NOT try to lose any weight you put on, and it will be fairly hard to lose.

A sensible diet, with limited sugar and less than 30 grams of fat per day (But don't starve yourself! Just eat different proportions of different foods). Exercise that breaks a good sweat, 30 minutes, 3 times per week.

If you still have a lot of central-body weight, check with your doctor. You may have some treatable medical condition, like Cushings Syndrome.

The idea of losing weigh in just one region is ludicrous. Drop total body fat percentage through Interval training (random on the equipment you are using). Love yourself and your family enough not to die early because bacon means more than grandchildren.
