I have had a reoccurring dream about fishing??
Question: I have had a reoccurring dream about fishing for about six seven years now. In the dream, I'm usually holding the fishing rod and trying to land the fish that's on the end of the line. It's always a real struggle. Sometimes I manage to get fish out, but someone else takes over after. Usually there is someone else fishing in the dream, but this is not consistant. Can anyone help with this? Is it normal to have a reoccurring dream for this length of time with out it actually meaning something?
I'm 24, have been single for last two years. I've lived in same area of UK for all my life. Have had no real traumas in my life. Am professionally happy.
Answers: Your dreams are just your thoughts or items that are packed tightly in your subconcious. You really have to look at what fishing can represent metaphorically. And even the others fishing or taking over for you can represent something metaphorically.
Imagine flying in a dream. That usually means that you are in complete control of situations that are going on in your life, and you are soaring above all of your problems with ease. Likewise, a dream where you are running in slow motion can mean that you have goals, or something that you can't get to or acknowledge because something is causing you to slow down, or there is something holding you back.
Fishing could mean any numer of things. The only reason that your mind is using fishing over the last few years is because thats the only way your subconcious wants to represent your problems. The same dream will mean very different problems, which is why the dreams change (sometimes you get the fish out, sometimes another person is there). I imagine that fishing could mean things in your life that you are searching or fighting for which is represented by the actual act of fishing (love, health, weight problems, material things, friends, school, career...), and these things sometimes require work or commitment (which is why you sometimes succeed in bringing the fish in.)
Take a look at the whole package and what they could mean. Everything you remember about your dream, even the size of the fish, the struggle, to the person in your dream can mean any number of ideas. As days go by, the dreams can represent different issues.
Fishing
To dream that you are fishing, indicates that you are confronting and bringing your repressed emotions to the surface. In particular, to dream that you are ice fishing, suggests that you are breaking through a hardened emotional barrier and confronting difficult feelings from your unconscious.
Consider the common phrase fishing for compliments .
Fishing Rod
To see a fishing rod in your dream, represents your quest and exploration of your unconscious mind. You are ready to confront issues and emotions which you have suppressed.
i am quite into my dreams, i would hazard a guess that you have trouble pulling the ladies and you are a bit insecure about yourself, if this is so, your mind is just trying to let you know this subconsciously. chill about the dreams. they are there for you brain to sort out all the data in ya head.
There's surely something fishy about your dream :)
