Im so scared to leave my house without makeup though??
Question: I kno if I go see professional help about being so obsessed with the way I look they will just tell me to face my fears. I can't even go to bed without make up, none the less let other people see me!! Why am I so crazy like this? Its ruining my life. I don't even have any friends anymore because of this problem. I don't go anywhere but work and home. I can't even go to the movies because Im scared of what people think of me. What's wrong with me?
Answers: Be kind to yourself no one is going to be half as critical of you as you. Relax I know this feeling and I shared it to some extent. You should try to leave out one thing say no lipstick or not foundation what ever but just cut out one thing and try going around with out it for a bit and then cut out something else. when you are not going out take off the make up and keep it off. Take a look at your face in a mirror but you can only find and say complimentary things. Find what is good, get used to looking at yourself so you can really see that you ar just fine with out the make up because you are. You can beat this, I did.. you can get that cold cream, shed that paint and come out into the world. You can always use some make up later on but you should give yourself time to realize that you can use it but you do not HAVE TO wear make up. Good Luck

it doesn't matter what other people think of you. even if they think you're ugly, that's not true, you're beautiful in your own unique way!
You need to concentrate less on what people think of you and come to terms with what you think of yourself. What makes you think make-up makes you look better? It might make you look like a clown. Consider that and then go look in the mirror without make-up and see the beautiful woman gazing back at you.
You are incredibly self-centered. That may sound mean, but that's the problem. You are so convinced that everyone is looking at you, thinking about you. News flash. Everyone is not looking at you. They are busy being concerned about their own issues. You are just not that important. If you embrace that thought, it's actually quite liberating.
To get out of the trap you are in, you need to actively work at being other-centered. You need to care more about helping other people, making other people comfortable. Stop thinking about yourself. I'd highly recommend volunteer work. Maybe at a hospital where children are given plastic surgery for facial birth defects. Look at the courage these kids have in facing the world and it may help you to see just how silly you are being.
Professional help may not be a bad idea either, but a lot can be accomplished if you just make up your mind to face the world with a different attitude.
try to see a psychiatrist specializing in phobias. a once saw a 48 hours or dateline or something where a girl was so afraid of spiders that she could not leave her dorm room during halloween season because of the spider toys and images in the hall. she met with a specialist who was able to coax her out of the fear. she eventually was able to hold and pet and enjoy tarantulas! i think if you found the right specialist they could really help you. i would call a local psychiatric office and tell them of your situation. they may want you to meet with a normal therapist first, but definately express your desire to see a specialist at some point!!
best of luck hun!
hey! we all think about what ppl think of us! for example, i have a bump on my nose, and my chin isnt very defined, and neither are my cheek bones. but i have looked in the mirror at myself, and pointed out the good things about me, like how i have only 3 zits on my face, and my beutifull eyes that change colors with my outfits, and how i look dang good with glasses.
that is what you need to do. instead of pointing out your flaws, look @ the good things about you. 1st with your make-up off, then with it on. dont point out your flaws, because what i have relized, is that, NOBODY pay's attention! most people dont even care! the next time ur out somewhere, look around and see how many people are staring at you (little kids dont count. they stare at everyone) and trust me, nobody will be! unless its a really hot guy, lol.
i kno i have flaws, but i have more good then bad. and i have learned to deal with my flaws and so will you :)
I am not sure but it sounds to me like you have had something REALLY BAD happen to you and you cannot let ppl know what you really look like for fear they will see what happened to you.
Please get help as soon as possible. You will heal but you have to do the work
Dear Jkeys,
It might be a good idea to try out the idea of not thinking you are crazy.
It is good to be a little kinder to ourselves and more often look at what we do that is good.
It is there if you look for it.
I can imagine you are scared. It must seem like this is controlling you. Feeling out of control scares me, too.
I don't have a quick fix, but there is a book you might get called care of the soul by Thomas Moore.
You might like it.
Hope this helps.
