every once in awhile i take a tylenol PM and sleep like a baby. If its more than a night or two then go see a doctor. Also...work out and exhaust yourself to see if that works.
Usually, the best result is to do something really exhausting before and take a warm shower before bed but it doesnt always work. It depends on your level of insomnia. How many hours of Sleep do you get a week? Loud music doesnt help a lot either. You might try some peppermint tea. It's about the only i get even close to sleep anymore.
