Has anybody out there had experience of RISPERDAL??

Question: I have recently been prescribed this medication this that are on it already will know what it is for. I just need to know if it works and how you coped with it?
Answers: While Risperdal is very effective for short-term management, there are no clinical studies to prove its effectiveness in long-term therapy. Additionally, long-term therapy can cause serious side effects. If you take this medication, you have to maintain a close relationship with your doctor, in order for him to effectively monitor your condition as it progresses. I'd recommend discussing any questions or issues with your doctor. It's important for you both to be on the same page.
To be honest, it never worked for me or my niece. Made us both like walking zombies.
It didn/t really work well for my sister and it made her gain ALOT of weight. The doctor tried to prescribe it to me but I told him no way, find something else.
I take a hefty dose and it doesn't cause any kind of sedation for me. For the first week I was on it I had some restlessness after I took it but that was the only side effect and it went away. I did not gain any weight on risperdal. Also, I have been on it long term, my grandfather took for probably ten or more years, and it has never lost its effectiveness for either or us. I have not had any symptoms of psychosis since I started it. I take it for paranoia and hearing voices.
I take it for paranoid schizophrenia and I'm tired all the time and gained 25 pounds. But its the one with the least weight gain. I still have symptoms, but I'm not willed to take more, because then I'm even more tired. I take 4 mgs daily, or more or less daily.

Neuroleptics are ****. Schiz has destroyed my entire life. So has risperdal. One doctor said it right: you can choose between the pest and cholera (psychosis or meds).

Sorry, but I'm in a bad mood today. No wonder, I have it 10 years now and it's still not better...
I have taken the highest possible dose of Risperdol for 4 years now.I feel that my mind would be a chaotic mess without it.Even though I'm not completely normal at least Risperdol has kept me somewhat functional.Everybodys body reacts differently but it does'nt sudate me like the others have.My doctor prescribed Benztropene also to keep side effects down.Risperdol works for me.Good Luck.
