Contacts HELP!! please??
Question: Okay, i need to know how much a typicval eye exam for contacts cost. i know it differs from the place you go but whats the range..i know its mroe than the normal eye exam but how much more? And also i need to know if u have ever worn contacts if they worked or not and which ones u used plase...thanks!!
Answers: Ok I live in Texas and the cheapest place I found for a contact exam was $60. The rest of the places I priced ranged form $0 to $150. I am a first time contact wearer and that makes a difference to. It makes it a little higher priced.
we charge $70 for a routine eye exam and glasses Rx, no contacts.
$119 if you're a previous contact lens wearer in spherical lenses
$144 if you are getting contacts but have never worn them before, or if you have special contacts like torics, hybrids, multifocals, monovision, gas permeables, etc etc
we're also in TX
I absolutely LOVE my contacts. I have been wearing them for about 10 years. I won't go back to glasses full time. With contacts you don't have to worry about not having peripheral vision, you can see full 360
It is usually about 25-50 dollars extra for a contacts evaluation.
I used to wear Bausch and Lomb soft lenses, but they stopped making them. They worked very well and lasted a long time.
Now I am using Acuvue Advanced. They have been great. It took me a while to find a new brand after they stopped making the others. The doctor can help recommend the right lenses for you. Go with disposable soft lenses they are much better.
I live in California (Bay Area) - Of all the places I've been Costco was the cheapest at $75 and they give you the prescription for both contacts and glasses. But with insurance I only pay $10 co-pay and that's it.
Lenscrafters also do that though they are more expensive at almost $200.
I've been wearing contacts for about 7 yrs now and I love them, much better than glasses, but I have glasses so I don't have to wear them all the time. I started off with a brand by Johnson & Johnson and that didn't work for me. I switched to Acuvue and now I have Acuvue 2. Everyone has different ones, plus it also depends on length of wear – daily ones, 2 weeks wear or long-term wear - say about 30 days.
