Are non-prescription color lenses safe? Where can i buy them??
Question: I have 20/20 vision and i want blue eyes but i'am afraid if i get non-prescription color lenses they will hurt my eyes. Will they?
Answers: if you're in the US (which i suspect you are since you said 20/20 and not 6/6), law says you still have to have a prescription for contacts, even if you dont need them to see well.
part of the prescription is the size/shape/material/etc of the lens. it has to FIT YOUR EYE. a bad fit causes all kinds of problems and can even be dangerous.
it is for this reason that the FDA considers contact lenses...even prescriptionless contact lenses...to be a medical device, one that you must obtain a Rx for before you can legaly buy.
there has recently been a crack-down on those illegal sales of cosmetic contact lenses in flea markets and convenience stores.
its illegal. must go to an optometrist and get fitted for a prescription for colored contacts.
They are safe.. go to any OD and get fitted for them. you will need to learn to insert and remove them and care for your new lenses.
All contacts are prescriptive and need a prescription even if they have no correction.
There has been so much trouble with the saline solutions having bacteria in it and people having problems with their eyes after wearing contacts for vision correction, I wouldn't take the chance just for vanity sake. Plus...they look fake when you change your eyes to blue if they are brown. Your eyes are the color that matches your complexion and when you mess with other colors you don't look natural. Why mess with what is already perfect? People really don't care what color your eyes are, its what is inside you that matters. Your eyes are too important to mess with for vanity.
Never, never ever try them with out see an eye doctor first, because if you don't know how to put them you can hurt your eyes or catch an infection so be careful. Even do you have 20/20 vision you need to see an eye doctor, because also they are different sizes, and if you visit your eye doctor you can request a free sample, that way you can chose the perfect color for you, Good Luck :)
