Is it true that taking a bath while you have your period will make it last longer??
Question: i have always heard thid from people. my mom and grandmother. is it just an old wives tale or is it really true? any ob/gyn out there know?
Answers: Your period can only last as long as it takes to expel the blood and tissue that has lined the uterine wall. Your hormones control that and once your period has started, you are no longer building up uterine lining, so taking a bath (or anything else) can't make it last longer. My grandmother used to tell my mom that washing her hair while she was on her period would make her sick... where did they come up with this stuff?
No, thats not true.
My grandma always said that it did, but it never changed mine. She also said that hot water made it last longer, and that didn't change it either. I think that it's just an old wive's tale. If anything, it helps with cramps.
No, It's not true! But I don't know how sanitary it is.
I've never heard that one before but i dont think it has any affect.
I've never noticed that. And in any case if you don't bathe during your period, you'll stink to high heaven, believe me.
well it can for like an hour longer because water makes it stay in so like...if you take a bath for an hour youll have it an hour more on the 7th day? i suppose... it should'nt work that way but whatever... you never really know how LONG your per is gonna be anyway... because every period and every body's body is different
Its a myth, bath water has nothing to do with whats going on inside of you.In plus on your period you need to bathed, its really unsanitary not too.
You don't need to be an ob/gyn to know that this is not true. Your period is the shedding of the bloody lining of your uterus. How, exactly, is bath water going to create more blood in order to extend the length of your period? Dilute it? That's so far from logical, I can't believe anyone actually believes it.
No, it won't make your period last longer.
That makes no sense. The blood will just come out into the bath water, and then you're sitting in it. Gross.
If submerging yourself in water stopped bleeding, don't you think they'd teach it in first aid class?
No, taking a bath during your period doesn't make it last longer. But having a bath during your period is a little gross.
no!! !
