Why do I get urinary tract infections all the time??

Question: I feel better while taking antibiotics but it always comes back. I get this pain in my lower back area. Go to the dr. and they say yes you have a urinary tract infection. I have been through many test and they dont know why I get them all the time. I drink only water or cranberry juice (lots of it). I am hoping someone out there will have the same problems and tell me what I can do to stop this.
Answers: you may have intersticial cystitis ask your doctor. make sure you eliminate after intercoarse and clean up i know it kind of takes away from the afterglow, but its better than all that pain, try to shower instead of bathing in things like calgon and smoking and other things like colas do have an affect on the urinary tract system. if you cant pronounce it just write it down and tell the dr to check you for I.C. he should know what you are talking about or have him send you to a urologist, feel better! the other answerers have the right idea too! also ask him about polycystic kidney disease too, that one is just a shot in the dark, but may be worth it to make sure it doesnt appear in the future, im not trying to scare you... just ask good luck
1. Always pee before & after sex.
2. Wear cotton underwear.
3. Try a pH soap of 5.5 - it keeps things more in balance.
4. Talk to your gynecologist as well as your main doctor.
5. Wipe front to back - ALWAYS.
You should have your bladder checked out. Too-frequent urinary tract infections can be the sign of something bigger.
You might try eliminating all caffine, nicotine and Transfats from your diet. Soymilk may also help.
